As my pregnancy progresses, I can’t seem to digest a full adult-sized meal so I have to eat small portions, often. But even though I feel hungry all the time, sometimes I don’t really feel like eating … so strange.
Well, I’ve decided to divide my meals accordingly:
- Upon waking up, not because I’m awake but rather because I’m hungry, I have a full glass of orange or multivitamin juice with my iron supplement.
- Half an hour later, to allow time for my body to absorb the iron, I either have a bowl of Kellog’s Red Fruit cereals, a yogurt, or a toast with Philadelphia cheese and hard-boiled eggs. Then, I have a full glass of milk or juice with my antenatal vitamins.
- Throughout the day, I divide my lunch in two portions and constantly have fresh fruit (cherries, green grapes, melon, nectarine or watermelon) to ease my hunger. I also have a small portion of ice cream with banana! =) In addition, I have to remember to take my first doze of magnesium supplement.
- Dinner is my biggest meal so I can spend quality time with my husband (so cheesy!). I prepare either fish (salmon or trout as they don’t stink a lot) with salad and potatoes/rice, chicken/red meat wok with vegetables and rice, or lamb (in the oven) with salad and potatoes/rice. At times, I also make spaghetti or just frozen pizza.
Before going to sleep, of course, I’ll feel hungry again so I have another glass of milk, fruit, or yogurt. In addition, I have to take my second doze of magnesium supplement.
All this eating also means a lot of drinking … as if my bladder is not full enough as it is. Normally, I have around 1.2 to 1.5 liters of mineral water, juice and milk everyday.
So far, this diet has worked as I don’t really have heartburn, except occasionally, and I don’t feel bloated, constipated nor lacking any essential food group to help with the baby’s development.

Until my next post … take care!

You look very elegant, pearls are a wonderful choice!
I envy your appetite for fruits, I hate all fruits except strawberries and water melon….
